Monday Moments of Gratitude - August 1,2016

I'm so happy you're here!!

I'm making a point to post on Mondays about moments I am grateful for in the past week. We can all use a little more intentional thinking about things we're grateful for. With that said, I hope you'll continue to join me in gratitude on Mondays :)

Here are a few moments from this past week that I am grateful for:

Weekday mornings - yes, you read that right and I'll explain. I journeyed back to work this past week and I was super anxious how things would go in the morning. Getting myself in a somewhat presentable state, feeding kids and making sure everyone is sunscreened, fed and dressed in clean clothes. Never mind the other details: teeth brushing, lunch making, backpack filling etc. Guess what? The mornings were probably the smoothest part of the week!! WHAT?! To be fair, I'll give credit where it's due, Mr. B is my lifesaver in the mornings. He gets up with the kids and feeds/entertains them while I get myself ready. Then we tag team them for all the other stuff because, well, sometimes putting sunscreen on little people is like wrestling alligators and much easier with two adults. They still sometimes manage to escape, but we're doing pretty good.

CAFFEINE - I know, I know I should probably lay off the caffeine especially since I have issues sleeping BUT so help me, I wouldn't have made it through this past week without a few daily cups of java... I'm even branching out to the iced form - still working on finding the perfect iced coffee though (feel free to make suggestions in the comments - this iced coffee newb needs help lol)

Picking the kids up from daycare - my heart. There is no better feeling as a mother than picking your children up and them screaming "MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!" and running at you with all their might. The first few days Oliver cried because I think he was overwhelmed, but by Friday he just smiled so big and ran at me with his chubby little arms outstretched. You had better believed I scooped that little dude up and covered him in kisses. Annabelle always screams when she sees me and turns to tell all her friends "I gotta go, my mom is here" as though they can't see me. Missing my babies all day is rough, but seeing how happy they are to see me after only a day apart makes my heart happy.

The birthday boy - today is Mr. B's birthday so it's only fair I acknowledge the guy. Sure, he drives me nuts at times (no, I wont' list examples, that's a post for another day lol) but my gosh, this guy has got my back. This past week would absolutely not have been manageable without him. For real. At times I act like I have everything under control, but the truth of the matter is I would be a mess without this guy. Plus, he's pretty much dad of the year AND pretty easy on the eyes... so he's got that going for him. Happy birthday to this rockstar!

THE WEEKEND (and a long one at that) - I have a feeling that I'm quickly developing a whole new appreciation for the weekends. Weekends now mean less rushing, cooked meals and lots of family time. Well, they probably always meant that but I'm treasuring them a little more (okay, a LOT more) now that my weekdays are spent at work with kids in daycare and my time at home feels like a giant rush. Also, this was a long weekend, which means we're still home today so an EXTRA day to enjoy each other's company AND that means a short work-week this week so YAY!!!

The Blended Blog ladies - I'm so fortunate to be part of such an amazing group of kind and supportive women. We're all posting about our Christmas in July gift exchange today but gifts aside, I love these women because we're all at different ages and stages in life and yet we somehow found each other and formed such great relationships/friendships. I've been a little MIA in the group lately but no one holds it against me. In fact, I received some beautiful messages and check-ins this past week from the ladies and even received a super thoughtful card in the mail (thanks Andrea, you made me tear up!).
