Monday Moments of Gratitude (February 1, 2016)

I'm so happy you're here!!

I'm making a point to post on Mondays about moments I am grateful for in the past week. We can all use a little more intentional thinking about things we're grateful for. With that said, I hope you'll continue to join me in gratitude on Mondays :)

Here are a few moments from this past week that I am grateful for:

Family bedtime stories. We put both kids to bed at around the same time but mini-me is allowed to stay up in her room for a little bit. This week we started all gathering in mini-me's bed (she has a double) and reading a few stories (usually her pick). It helps both littles calm down and it's so nice to all cuddle close together and share a story (or 3). I have to say, this is quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of each day. Mr. B doesn't always make it home in time, but it's extra special when he does. We even let the dog up on the bed! (sorry, no pic because no phones allowed!)

Mealtime with my hungry guy. To say little man loves his food would be a big understatement. It usually ends up all over his face, his hands, the highchair and in his hair but he has a blast eating it and how could you say no to that squishy smiley face?

Building a snowman with my little girl. My instagram followers will have already seen this one. I contemplated sending mini-me out to play while I watched from the window BUT I figured it would be just as good for me to get some fresh air. Thankfully, the monitor worked outside and little man decided to take an extra-long snooze. I couldn't say no when mini-me asked "do you wanna build a snowman?" YES! The tiny dictator told me what to do and I obliged. I think he turned out pretty darn good. When I showed mini-me the pic after she said "I was holding his hand" lol she sure was. He's since melted the memory of us making him will last quite some time.

One-on-one time with the kiddos. Yes, I'm home most days with both kids and up until this point I haven't been really diligent about deliberately spending one-on-one time with them AND enjoying it. I played a LOT with the kids this past week. I worried less about vacuuming and dishes and focused more on playing. Truth be told: it was kinda fun. There's nothing quite as freeing as playing Barbies with a toddler and rolling on the floor with a baby. I think they liked it too ;)

Big balls. Alright, some may find this inappropriate, but I find it hilarious so you're going to have to deal. I posted this on the blog's Facebook Page earlier this week. Here's the post:

Your reward for being a follower? This awesome story (you're welcome in advance and sorry to mini-me who will one day hate me)
So yesterday Annabelle was playing with my exercise ball and so gleefully exclaimed "I just love big balls, they're so fun and make me so happy".
Naturally, I started laughing my face off which she, of course, thought was hilarious so she continued to tell "I love big balls".
Sometimes parenting is amazing.

Dinner out with friends. Those mommy friends I talk about often, well we decided to ditch the kiddos and go out for dinner! Honestly, I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that this was my first dinner out without children since little man was born. WHAT?! Obviously it was AMAZING!! Yes, we spent a lot of time talking about our children (figures) but it was still nice to get out with adults (plus, these ladies are kinda awesome) Apparently I need to do this more often. Next up: a date night with my handsome husband (yes, that requires leaving BOTH children... we can do this!)

I think I says this EVERY week, but when you're finding a reason to purposefully look for the great moments, you will realize how many moments there are that you're grateful for.
Whether you decide to link up or not, I strongly encourage you to start deliberately reflecting each week on the moments that made you feel truly grateful. I guarantee it'll make you happier.
