2015....

Clearly the biggest thing that happened to me in 2015 was the arrival of our little man (Oliver) - check out my pregnancy reveal post HERE. It's been a challenging few months since he arrived. Balancing two children, a strong-willed toddler and a reflux babe is a task but I have to say, even in my sleep-deprived state, that these two children are my whole heart and I wouldn't have it any other way (okay, that's a lie, I'd probably have a lot more sleep in a perfect world).

I read a book... a whole book. My review of said book can be seen HERE (one day I'll read again for fun... right?!)

My brother got married and mini-me and I were both in the wedding. I was terrified I wouldn't be able to squish into my bridesmaid dress just a month post-baby, but it worked out. Naturally, mini-me was a rockstar.

We also found out this year that my step brother and his wife are expecting a little boy in March 2016 AND that my brother and his wife are expecting a little girl in April 2016.

Now that I reflect back, it's hard to pin-point all of the moments that I know I want to remember and celebrate but I know there were a lot of them.

Instead of wracking my exhausted brain I will share my top 10 posts of 2015:

fall go-to outfit - plaid dress
fall go-to outfit - cozy layers
spring challenge week 1
fall go-to outfit - chambray and graphic tee
what I wore - spring style challenge
interview with Alison Lumbatis and fall style challenge
transitioning your maxi dress from summer to fall
winter go-to outfit - tunic, skinnies and vest
winter go-to outfit - cable knits sweater
what I wore May 13, 2015

Essentially, it's the style posts that have been the most popular. This both amuses and surprises me particularly since I've been rocking the pjs 24/7 as of late (more on that HERE).

I've noticed, since having Oliver, that my blog seems to be shifting a little. I'm still posting about style-related things but also a lot more about parenting and life. While those posts may not be the most popular, there certainly ones I enjoy writing and you can expect to see more of moving forward.

My current state of exhaustion doesn't allow for much more writing... I will say, 2015 may not have been the best year of all-time, but it welcomed our baby boy so for that alone it's one for the record books.

I hope you all have beautiful memories to look back on from this past year and many more to make in 2016.

Wishing you all a very happy new year and all of the best life has to offer in 2016. Make this year count people!

what I wore: life

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

This is not your typical "what I wore" post.

Why? There a number of reasons I do not have the energy to get into will not bore you with.

Let me be honest here. Real honest. Life is kicking my ass right now. Yes, I said ass, clearly the expletive means I'm serious.

I sit here in leggings and a t-shirt (note: the tank under covers my butt and I didn't leave the house... okay, that's a lie, I didn't leave the car - thank the sweet lord for drive-thru coffee). My unwashed hair is thrown up in a clip and I literally do not have a drop of makeup on (unless you count the residual from yesterday's mascara that didn't come off completely and I didn't have the energy/time/care to deal with today). The bags under my eyes are my newest accessory.

tiara thanks to mini-me (you obviously need a tiara to play barbies). My mug is clearly being sarcastic... jerk. I had to bleach this out because, you know, bags. Also, yes, that's a giant mug of coffee... with no milk.. UGH.

What's going on? Well, I suppose that if I could adequately answer this question my problems would be solved but I'll try to sum it up for ya. My little man is having a rough go and thus, as am I.

I haven't talked much about my little man and his issues here because, well, he's super cute and sweet and I love the little guy to bits. Also, I'm blessed with two relatively healthy children and complaining about them on a public forum just seems wrong (privately is a whole other ballgame... kidding... kind of).

Little man has had reflux since he was just a few weeks old and has struggled with digestive issues. What does this mean? It means he's uncomfortable a lot of the time. It means he cries a lot but doesn't sleep much. It means he spits up a thousand times a day and I do a lot of laundry (I use the term do loosely because I just wash it and throw it in baskets and thank goodness my mom and sister in law come over sometimes and help me fold it). It means that he has to be upright for 30 min after eating and wants to be held CONSTANTLY.

In addition to his regular issues he has a cold and is teething like crazy. This means he is up every 1.5-2 hours at night. That's a good night, because there were a few nights we would try and put him down and he'd wake up every 5 min. Literally EVERY 5 min!! It's impossible to get him to nap and if you do happen to get him to sleep, he wakes up the second you try and put him in his crib or swing.

What does this mean for me? It means my house is a mess, it means I need help to keep up with laundry, it means I don't get dressed (unless changing out of pjs to leggings and a t-shirt counts?). It means I haven't commented back on blogs or even read any other blogs. It means I don't sleep. EVER. Because, remember, in addition to my little man, I also have a 2.5 year old toddler... and, you know, terrible twos are a legit thing. Legit.

OH and, because I'm not enough of a glutton for punishment, I have cut dairy from my diet (as I suspect little man may have an allergy). In case you were wondering, Christmas is NOT the time of the year to cut dairy. No cheese, no chocolate, no gravy. Did I say no cheese? Did I mention no chocolate?! UGH. FYI all good things are dairy. If you want to go dairy-free, cut out everything you love. It's the icing on the cake. Oh wait, icing has butter, which is dairy, and I can't have that.

I'm also a wee bit grumpy (in case you didn't notice). But that little man, he smiles. Sometimes he smiles so big and so cute that my whole (utterly exhausted) heart just melts in a second. And that wild toddler? Sometimes, despite my constant nagging, runs up to me and throws her arms around me exclaiming "I love you mommy" and I smile. Sure, it might be a weak, tired, worn-out smile, but it's in there. The happy, it's there just buried under the tired.

are you kidding me? regardless of how sleep-deprived I am, that's one cute baby. No matter how many nights he keeps me up, one look with those baby blues and I'm mush!

This little girl has enough personality to last a life-time but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. I trust that one day I'll be thankful for her strong-will!

I know I'll sleep again (though it might be a while) and I know that this is one of the hardest parts (I hope) but right now, right now I'm in it and it's kicking my ass.

I apologize for not responding for comments, for not commenting on blogs and not being a good bloggy-friend but life is happening. It's honestly a small miracle I had time to write this unfiltered rant (as I write that, I can hear my toddler still awake - it's 8:38 - and I see little man stirring on the monitor).

This is life folks. I've reverted back to my original frumpy mommy self... instead of promising to improve, I'm going to embrace it, and when I'm ready, when I've had some sleep (be it a week or a year from now) maybe I'll get back to wearing stuff outside of pajamas and gym wear (because you know damn well I haven't seen a gym lately) and reading and commenting on all your awesome blogs. One day I'll get back to having time in the evenings to get some blog stuff done and also spend some times with my husband. Now, is not that time, but it will come... right?!

Christmas gift exchange reveal

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

So the lovely ladies @ the Blended Blog decided we would do a Christmas gift exchange and today is the big reveal.

I always love Secret Santas BUT they totally stress me out!! I never know what to get people but I always love my gifts (maybe I should just start getting people what I've received previously... duly noted for next year).

Today's post is a blog loop sharing our Secret Santa gifts :) It's like pre-Christmas Christmas! Enjoy!

My Secret Santa was: Nicole @ Nick&Nicole+4

YAY prezzies!!! I was super excited to get this package in the mail. Mini-me was excited too, not so much when I explained that the gift was for me #shouldhavewaiteduntilshewasinbed

I've wanted these mugs FOREVER!! They're adorable and actually fit the extra-large coffee my keurig makes (because, you know, this tired momma needs an extra large - or 3 - coffee).

Mr. B and I now have super cute matching glasses AND mini-me had a great time hanging our new family ornament on the tree (possibly in a place pre-approved by momma).

Nicole did a fantastic job as my Secret Santa.

NOW, you'll have to head over to Deena's blog to see how well I did as her Secret Santa :)

A quick and delicious holiday treat - cookie brittle

Monday, December 21, 2015

Have you ever tried cookie brittle???

Prepare to love me. No seriously, the recipe I'm about to share with you is not only ridiculously quick and easy it's also freaking DELICIOUS!

For real, people request me to make this on the regular.

I just had to make a few batches for a cookie exchange and Mr. B requested a few extra just for us him.

Cookie Brittle

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 bag chocolate chips
1 box graham wafer crackers

  1. line baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. pre-heat oven to 350.
  3. melt butter in pan on high heat. Once melted add brown sugar and stir constantly.
  4. when brown sugar/butter mixture turns to a light brown color, remove from heat and pour over graham crackers.
  5. bake for 8 minutes.
  6. melt one bag of chocolate chips (approximately 2 cups) using a double-boiler or over low-heat.
  7. pour melted chocolate over baking sheet.
  8. refrigerate.
  9. break into pieces and enjoy.

cookie brittle
What baking is complete without a glass of red?

cookie brittle
This is the light brown color you're waiting for. Be careful, this butter/brown sugar mixture is bubbly and HOT!!

cookie brittle
Mmmmm chocolate chips!

cookie brittle
pre-fridge.

cookie brittle
finished product... YUM!!!

Why do we love these so much? Well Mr. B calls them "skor cookies" because that's what they kinda taste like. Soooooo good!

My advice: if you're going to try this recipe, just go ahead and make two batches, you'll be glad you did!

at this moment (written Wednesday)

Friday, December 18, 2015

I'm going to blame the lovely Deena @ ShoestoShiraz for what is about to happen. She challenged me to write a spur of the moment post. Just whatever I'm thinking. So, here goes (don't say I didn't warn you):

First, how much should I filter this?

Like no F-bombs, right?

Okay, no F-bombs, good call.

Today was a long day. Really long. Like the kind of day where you're counting down the minutes until bedtime (the children's, not yours... okay maybe yours too... okay, maybe just counting down until you can have a glass of wine).

I honestly think my children sometimes have chats when I'm not around (ignore the fact my nearly 5 month old is clearly not verbal yet - my kids are advanced, but not that advanced).
I think it goes like this:

Annabelle: I'm going to be really good this morning so you really need to cry a lot, okay?
Oliver: Perfect, I'll refuse to nap but be grumpy because I'm soooooo tired.
Annabelle: Sounds good. As soon as you fall asleep, I'll poop.
Oliver: Good idea. I'll only nap 30 minutes so she'll spend half that changing you. How about I'll be all smiles around 5pm and you can have a tantrum because mom gave you carrots and you wanted pasta.
Annabelle: You read my mind.

On that note. The funniest thing happened today. Okay, it was funny to me, Annabelle, not so much. She was very excited for a cupcake so she got one after supper (don't even ask how long it took to eat supper).

Then she dropped it. On the floor. Then the dog ate it.
You wanna see toddler armageddon? Watch them watch their dog eat their cupcake.
It was like he ripped her tiny little heart out with every chomp (all two of them).
DEVASTATED.

I had to turn away because, really, it's a cupcake and there are approximately 23 other cupcakes sitting a mere 3 feet away from her. Perhaps I was just laughing because of my extreme state of exhaustion OR the reminder that life could, in fact, be much worse. Sure, I get no sleep EVER but at least the dog didn't eat my cupcake. I mean, really.

When I pulled my shit together (read: stopped laughing) and offered her another cupcake, all was well with the world again. But she's now very quick to tell you about the ordeal (and very emphatically at that):

Before you ask, yes, I'm confident she'll be an actress!

That's all I've got today... add a glass of wine to my lack of sleep... BED TIME!!

winter go-to outfit: cable knit sweater

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

It's supposed to be winter. It's supposed to be cold. There is supposed to be snow on the ground AND I am supposed to be sharing winter outfits.

Mother nature clearly gives zero shits about any of that. Soooooo today you get a winter go-to that's good for moderate temperatures too. Your welcome my fair-weathered friends!

*sorry for the language, I'm not digging the idea of no snow for Christmas. Plus, I won't lie, I kinda just feel like dropping an s-bomb sometimes. Or worse, but let's keep things somewhat PG up in here.

distressed jeans + cable knit sweater + vest + statement necklace = holiday shopping ready

distressed jeans and vest

I LOVE the uber casual look with a bit of bling. Why wouldn't you put on a shiny necklace with your comfy clothes? Seriously. I also added some red accents because, you know, 'tis the season.

Super mom appropriate attire (the jeans have stretch in them - booya)  and I feel a little prettier because I'm wearing some sparklies! When you're running on VERY little sleep, sparkles make you feel better (they distract from the circles under your eyes).

Sorry for the crap picture quality, clearly my iphone is assisting me. Yes, I got a new camera. No, I do not have time to play with it - apparently my children think playing with them is more important. What you don't see? Two littles hanging out on the bed while mommy takes a selfie. It's a family affair folks.

Alright, that's it for me... stay tuned for more winter outfits (whether or not Winter decides to show up is an entirely differently story).

Are you loving the cableknit sweater this winter?

Christmas Home Tour

Monday, December 14, 2015

Welcome!!

Today my friends and I at The Blended Blog are doing a Holiday Home Tour Blog Hop! **you may already know that if you've hopped on over from Katie's blog** However you managed to get here, thanks for stopping by!

Here's what our home is looking like this holiday season:

Front door is where it starts. I really need to get a nicer wreath or maybe become one of those 'Pinterest moms' and make one. Ya, right. I'm actually laughing at the thought of that.

We have little characters throughout the house. I prefer more classic decorations but let's be serious, the kids love it and they're kinda cute.

Notice we even throw a little festive penguin in the powder room. Oh ya.

Garland over the back door... kinda random and would look much better with some pretty lights. When in doubt, add lights.

Cookie jar? Check! Holiday candle? Check! Snowmen everywhere? Check!!

My aunt made mini-me an advent tree with suckers on it (no, she does NOT get one every day - I'm mean like that). Why? I have the one child in the world that doesn't like chocolate. Don't ask, she didn't get that from me.

Snowglobe was a gift to Annabelle from my mom on her first Christmas.

*that log santa was made by the same woman who made my signs below (link below). Isn't he cute?!

What do you do with extra Christmas lights? Throw them over random stuff!

Do you love my "Baby it's Cold Outside" and "Merry and Bright" signs? I ADORE them!! Just got them from this wonderful (and talented) woman locally (Woodworks by Mary). I can't wait for next year to order some more pretty handmade pieces.

Another penguin hanging out.

There's our elf on the shelf, Mr. Jingles, crazy little guy. He's also quite lazy, thankfully mini-me is pretty forgiving if he hasn't moved. I have explained that he sometimes likes a spot so much he comes back to it (ya, I'm good).

Our beautiful (fake) tree. We I like to keep it traditional with reds and golds.

Our dining room is filled with red accents, including wine glasses, and some pretty lights where we serve ourselves guest wine.

There you have it. You may have noticed you didn't get views of entire rooms. I live with a toddler and infant sooooo I figured I'd save you the barrage of toys etc. You're welcome.

Next up on the The Blended Blog's Holiday Home Tour is Leslie @ Once Upon A Time Happily Ever After. Happy home-touring!

Annabelle's newborn pictures

Friday, December 11, 2015

Last week I shared Oliver's newborn pictures so I figured it was only fair to share some of Annabelle's.

Well, I have a confession: I can't find them ANYWHERE.

Okay, not exactly true, I managed to find the ones I happened to post on Facebook. To be fair, I'm positive there's a disc or some saved pictures around here somewhere. I hope.

I'll share the ones I found but know that I had hoped on posting the funniest (albeit gross) picture that was taken right after a cute, naked Annabelle had a poop-splosion all over Brent and the floor. haha I still laugh remember that.

Here's a peek at Annabelle's newborn pics:

Before you ask, yes, I am struggling with the fact these were taking over 2.5 years ago. Seriously, my little baby is so grown up now. All too soon I'll be looking back on Oliver's newborn pictures with the same feeling. Time goes too fast. Too fast.

I need to stop now before I get all emotional on everyone (too late?).

winter go-to outfit - tunic, skinnies, vest and boots

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

Winter is here!
Don't let the exclamation mark fool you, I'm dreading the winter months (which seem to last forever here) and winter fashion gives me all kinds of struggles.

I want to look cute, don't get me wrong, but the majority of the 'styles' I see are just not freaking practical. I live in Canada. We get snow. We get A LOT of snow. I'm not going out and about in cute flats. Those days are gone.

Pass the wool socks, down vests and waterproof footwear.

Alright, so here's my first winter go-to style!!! (you can check out my other go-to oufits HERE) I will tell you why I love it below.

tunic sweater + black skinnies + vest + boots = cool, cozy mom on the run

winter sweater and black jeans

Christmas sweater, 27 CAD / Black vest, 53 CAD / 7 For All Mankind black jeans, 405 CAD / Wigwam socks, 19 CAD / SOREL rubber boots, 150 CAD / Topshop lips makeup, 19 CAD / Essie nail polish, 11 CAD

This is the PERFECT winter outfit for a number of reasons:

  1. It's cute and comfy. TIP: you can sub the skinnies for leggings IF your sweater is long enough (read: covers your butt).
  2. It can be dressed up OR down. To dress up: use a fur vest, throw on some flashy accessories, red lips/nails  and carry a cute bag.  To dress down: use a puffer vest and keep the accessories minimal. This is one of those perfect outfits, with a quick accessory change, you could wear from Christmas dinner to a walk to the (freezing cold) park to grocery shopping with the kiddos (cause that's my life).
  3. It's practical. Seriously, if I were to go outside in flats right now my feet would freeze and I'd get a soaker. Nobody likes a soaker. NObody.
  4. The boots. I'm OBSESSED with the boots. I need them. I WILL have them.
Wool socks tip: if you're having a hard time finding a pair, head to the men's section where wool socks are a plenty! You're welcome!

Okay friends, what are you excited to wear this winter?

Christmas pjs for the whole family

Tuesday, December 8, 2015

There's something so magical about the holiday season, especially when you have little people in your life to share it with.
While I don't normally wear holiday-specific clothing, I can't live without Christmas jammies. Seriously, it's not Christmas Eve unless we've all put on our coziest holiday jammy-jams (ya, I call them that, don't judge).

So I decided to share with you what my family's Christmas Eve style will resemble. Think: festive and cozy!

mens pants//girl toddler pjs//women's pjs//men's slippers//baby one piece//toddler slipper//women's slippers

Note: the men's pants are not overly 'Christmas-y'. I know I wouldn't be able to convince Mr. B to don a pair of reindeer-laden jammies, so plaid it is. The bonus with that is he can wear them throughout the rest of the year too!

Are Christmas pjs a 'must' for your family??

November in numbers

Monday, December 7, 2015

Curious about what my November looked like? Of COURSE you are. Here it is, in numbers (note: I probably forgot something uber important, I have a 4 month old so can still plead "baby brain").

Oh I'm linking up with the ever lovely Deena @ ShoestoShiraz (make sure you check her out, she's kinda awesome).

15- number of blog posts written. I don't even know how this happened. Seriously, I've been feeling like a huge blogging failure lately.

3- workouts done. Okay, this is just bad, again. Does it count that it's three more than last month? No? I REALLY need to do something about this...

1 - Santa Claus Parade attended. And 1 phone forgotten at home for said parade so 0 pictures. Oops.

20 - pics posted on Instagram (username: shaunaceyb)

1 - house decorated for all things Christmas.

67 - the number of times (ish) I have had to tell mini-me NOT to touch the decorations on the tree. That actually could be me low-balling it. Seriously.

1 - dance recital attended. Mini-me is 2.5 so it wasn't so much a recital as it was kids runaround and do whatever. Still cute. Still took a billion pictures.

1 - visit with Santa that went surprisingly well. Excuse their outfits, it was an impromptu visit )after dance class, clearly).

1 - holiday photoshoot that was a complete and utter disaster. Fingers crossed we get one or two usable pics. We didn't get one SINGLE shot of the two kids together. FYI: 4 months and 2.5 years is the worst age for pictures. The WORST (so far).
(all smiles when we got home! little monkey.Seriously though, that face)

3108 - number of pageviews increase from last month. This made my day. YAY for progress.

68 - percent of Christmas shopping complete. ish. Thank you online shopping!

1 - new camera! WHOO This is my Christmas prezzie but because of Black Friday deals I got it early. I'm super pumped. Now to figure out how to work the thing and actually take pictures with it instead of my iphone. Right.

1 - Elf on the Shelf house guest. Mr. Jingles made his debut. I won't lie, I'm enjoying 'encouraging' good behavior thanks to Mr. Jingles. Some call it bribing, I call it 'encouragement'. What will I do when he leaves? Is there a Valentine's Elf? Easter? Birthday? These should be things.

4 - playdates. Can I just tell you how thankful I am for playdates? For real. When I'm having the crappiest of crappy weeks, I meet up with some mommy-friends so we can vent for two hours our kids can play and something miraculous happens, I feel a little more sane. I think sharing the insanity really helps to normalize it. Thank goodness for these ladies! Oh and the kids have fun, that's important too... right.

I'm sure I'm missing all kinds of stuff but this is what I can remember right now lol.

Oliver's newborn pictures

Friday, December 4, 2015

So remember the time I had a baby 3.5 months ago?

Ya, well, I was on the ball having newborn picture taken, I just never got around to sharing them (bad mom-blogger).

Without further adieu (and before I blink and I'm late posting one-year pics) here's a little look at Oliver's newborn pics.

Oliver was NOT the most cooperative photography subject. He wouldn't stay asleep for anything... somethings haven't changed!

this picture of my two babies seriously warms my heart

tell me this girl isn't stunning?! Seriously! She looks so grown up here it kills me

the obligatory family shot. Oliver has one eye open and I'm pretty sure I was sitting on a tree. Goodtimes

There you have it!
I won't lie, there were some stressful moments and my uncooperative infant made it challenging but Tanya was able to capture some memorable shots and I'm happy we got at least one pic of my two littles together.

Now that I think of it, I  have never shared Annabelle's newborn pics... might have to do a little flashback at some point :)

Holiday Gift Guide: baby boy

Thursday, December 3, 2015

Is it just me, or are babies ridiculously hard to buy for?

My sweet Oliver is at the very awkward age where he's kinda-sorta playing with some stuff but not really loving anything.

Here's the wish list he I came up with for a baby boy:

  1. Food. Our sweet guy will be 5 months old on December 23 which means, in January, he'll be 6 month's old. Time for solids y'all! I both look forward to and dread this time. I hope the extra sustenance will help him sleep but I know I'm going to forever be cleaning up for (thank goodness for the dog!).
  2. Stroller/Car seat toys. This is on our list. Little man needs to be entertained so this is going to be a necessity for shopping trips walks.
  3. Whoozit. Okay, I'll admit, we already have this. It's a super weird toy but children LOVE it!! I just found this bad-boy in the basement and I can't wait to wash it and give it to Oliver.
  4. Fire truck/cars. Annabelle has said on numerous occasions that Oliver needs a truck. What our 2.5 year old says usually goes around here. Plus, this one is kinda cool cause it's made from recycled materials and is eco-friendly.
  5. Bath toys. Oliver enjoys his baths and he's not even at the point where he has any toys in there. I can imagine when he starts sitting up and actually playing in the tub, these are going to come in handy.
  6. Jolly Jumper. We tested this out the other day 'to see' if he would like it. He was a big fan. I see a lot of jumping around in little man's future.
  7. Sophie. An oldie but a goodie. Oliver is a teething machine. He's 4 months but is teething like you wouldn't believe. I found Sophie, gave her a wash and he's pretty much had a hoof in his mouth ever since. Whatever makes him happy.

What's your go-to gift for the baby(ies) in your life? (I may or may not be asking because I NEED some more ideas)

Holiday Gift Guide: toddler girl

I'm wearing yoga pants... but my kid is hilarious (and kinda mean)

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I was all schedule-McGee in the last week. I felt super proud of myself that I managed to get nearly two weeks of blog posts written and scheduled, except the fashion ones. I thought: I'll do those later, I can easily do those last minute.

WELL mom-reality hit and I barely managed to pull myself out of my pjs so there's certainly no blog-worthy outfits this week.

Then I contemplated creating a little outfit number out of things I'd like... but the baby woke up and quite frankly, now I'm just tired.

So no clothes post today.

Instead, I will share a quick, albeit hilarious, edition of "things kids say"...Enjoy.

After I had Oliver I was still a little squishy right off the bat (okay, I still looked 6 months pregnant and am still squishy - let's not get too technical here). One morning. about a week or two after Oliver was born, Annabelle woke up early so I went to cuddle with her in bed. Mr. B came in the room with Oliver shortly after and we were all laying there cuddling. Nice, sweet family time.

Then, Annabelle, the little sweetheart that she is, points to my exposed, and as previously mentioned: squishy, stomach and says "oh, just a little bit of Oliver left in there".

Brent quickly stifled a laugh.

Offended, I looked at her and said "nope, there's no more Oliver in there, he's out here now". Her reply was an argumentative one, "yup, just a little bit left in there, see?"

Well thanks kiddo.

I debated arguing with her... okay, I might have argued a few more times before giving up. Brent was literally summoning ALL of his inner strength not to pee himself with laughter.

Brent and I still laugh about it, because, honestly, it was pretty freaking hilarious (and humbling).

Oh kids. They're really too much sometimes and don't hesitate to tell you how it is.

On that note, off to enjoy my cookies... no wonder she thinks there's still a kid in there.

Holiday Gift Guide: toddler girl

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Thanks for stopping by. Today I'm participating the Blended Blog's Gift Guide Blog Hop! If you're stopping by from Leslie's blog, thanks! Happy to have you!!

It's no secret I'm a mother of two. My Christmas shopping this year is primarily for a 4 (ish) month old baby boy and a 2.5 year old little girl. This should be fun.

I wasn't entirely sure how to come up with this gift guide, but then I thought it would make the most sense to just share Oliver and Annabelle's wish lists with you (as per their letter to Santa, obviously).

We'll start with the toddler. She has very definite and concrete ideas of what she'd like to see under the tree... some with a little help from momma.

  1. A children's tablet or computer. Admittedly, this is momma's pick. Our sweet girl already knows how to work our tablet and phones nearly as well as we do. I'm hopeful something like this might keep her entertained (wishful thinking?!).
  2. Books. Annabelle LOVES to 'read' and be read to. She has a massive collection of books but is always wanting more. Currently, she adores Peppa Pig, so this one is on the list.
  3. Instruments. Confession: this is my pick for her. I know, I will very likely be writing a post in a month about how much I can't stand to hear her banging on drums all day BUT this kid loves her music and who am I to deprive her of that? Until I take it away because my head can't take it anymore.
  4. Blaze car. She saw this at a friend's house and HAD to play with it (I won't lie, there may or may not have been a toddler fist-to-cuffs over it). So help me, she better play with it if it shows up under the tree.
  5. Frozen dolls. Apparently, a dollhouse will not be complete without Elsa and Anna. Obviously.
  6. Dollhouse. This is the big ticket item our little girl is just begging for (I may have suggested it). She's consistent is requesting this from Santa but as previously mentioned, is partnered with some Frozen dolls. Here's hoping she's a good girl and Santa comes through because  I will love reliving my childhood playing with this with her.
  7. Easel. My little artist has been banned to the kitchen table with all arts and crafts. I am a mean mommy. Or rather, I don't want to clean. I figure this is a good solution because I can put it where I want it to go... until, of course, she moves it. Also, it fosters creativity and all.
