sharing something/someone very special

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

I am thrilled to write this post today because my writing this post means that I get to help share something super special.

For those who have been around a while, you may recall a post I wrote about a friend of mine who was diagnosed with cancer last Spring (Beauty and the Beast - Nicole and Cancer).

In short, Nicole is a young, beautiful, vibrant and amazing woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer one year ago today. Since that time, she has been through more than most can imagine (or would want to) BUT she does it all with a smile on her beautiful face and positivity in her heart.

So begs the question, why I am so happy to be making this post? Well, unfortunately, it's not because Nicole's battle is over, it's anything but, BUT today marks Nicole's decision to share her journey with the rest of the world via a blog. Her blog: Boobie and the Beast

This makes me happy for a number of reasons:

One, Nicole has truly inspired not only me, but hundreds of her friends, family and complete strangers. Until this point, she's shared some of her journey with the world through Facebook but is now ready to make the leap to blog-land. Her shining spirit is palpable through her words and I know she's going to impact so many people by sharing her journey and struggles.

Two, having read a few of Nicole's entries, I quickly realized she has a gift. She conveys her thoughts and emotions in a way that just captivates. Her entries read easily and touch your heart.

Lastly, Nicole's light is one that deserves and needs to be shared. There's so much negativity in this world (I'm guilty of that myself at times) and there always room, as far as I'm concerned, for more beauty and grace (both of which Nicole embodies without effort).

Go read and be inspired!

  5. For five years I worked for an event planning company that produced fundraisers for cancer care and research and it was so great to help and work with those touched by cancer. But I had never experienced the disease close to me, until think Thanksgiving when my grandma was diagnosed with three different cancers and passed away a month later on NYE. It's such a bs disease! I'm off to read Nicole's story!
