Monday in minute... gym time

Monday, August 18, 2014

So over the last few months I've REALLY been trying to workout more. I'm also trying to enjoy it. Some days are better than others.

Last week was a giant crap-shoot for time. Work was crazy which led to days with no lunches and evenings working from home (ew). This meant my lunch-time gym outings were non-existent (that's a lie, I went once). Mr. B's work was just as busy and that combined with him working a sidejob meant single-parenting for me. That meant no gym-time in the evenings.

I worked out once last week and I didn't feel good about that (that's gotta be a good sign though, right? To be sad about missing workouts).

Anywho, today marks day 1 of my two-week vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's going to be a busy two weeks because my to-do list is huge (and growing exponentially by the minute it seems) BUT I am committing here and now to do 10 workouts before I return to work. That's 5 days a week. There. I've said it. Hold me accountable!

Day one - CHECK!

QUESTION for you: how do you fit workouts in when you're incredibly crunched for time???

I should add: getting up early is NOT an option. We're up at 6 or so most days, earlier than that I'm not sure I can function.

  2. Good luck, I'm cheering for you! I recenlty made a similar goal - be active four days a week. How about a long walk with the kiddo (if she likes the stroller) where you stop every 10 minutes to do 1 minute of an exercise like push-ups or burpees? Without kids I have no idea if this is realistic, but it sounds like a good way to not need a babysitter and get outside.

    1. being off work that would be doable... I'm paying for daycare whether I send her or not, so I'll keep her home a few days but send her half-days so I can go to the gym/clean/etc baby-free! Then we can have 'fun' in the afternoons!

  3. Visiting from the link-up! I am so glad to hear that someone struggles when they have set up a goal for their personal lives and it is so hard to manage with time. It makes me feel like..okay, great, I am not the only one that is a hot mess. Being a hot mess is okay! Something I have tried to start doing is morning yoga. So, instead of feeling like I have to go out and run or head to the gym and make a huge time commitment, I take like 10-15 min and do yoga. It counts as a workout, it wakes me up, I stretch my tense muscles, I strengthen my weak ones. I feel like I've done something! It really makes a difference. I looked up morning yoga on Pinterest for ideas. Good luck!

    1. thanks for the visit!
I love yoga, I NEED to make more time for it. I've been really focused on strength training lately but I know my body could use some yoga!
Heading over to your blog to check it out ;)

  6. I like to do Jillian Michaels workouts when I'm pressed for time. You can stream them for for free from youtube. I really like 6 week 6 pack and shred. If you like yoga, yoga meltdown is a good one too. 30 minutes and you're done, plus you don't have to leave your house, sleep for an extra 10 minutes!

    1. i seriously own every single JM video. If Mr. B isn't home, it's impossible to do because mini-me is running around, trying to lift the weights, playing on my yoga mat etc.
Jillian is my fav!!! I did do a video last weekend because I was pressed for time

  7. Yay for 2 weeks of vacation, even if it is a staycation. Hopefully you'll put mini-me in daycare so you can get some stuff done and maybe workout? I try to workout 2-4 times a week, 4 times would be ideal, but you know how that goes. I actually take Baby Fox with me to the gym, and leave Mini Fox at home with the husband or my parents. When she turns 18 months we'll probably add her to the membership so I can take her too.

  8. Yay for that vacation! You deserve the time off, girl!
Mia came down with a cold last night and we didn't get any sleep because she felt so miserable... cue NOT wanting to workout! I called the gym to cancel her daycare because obviously I can't take her in! I was going to try running but it poured rain all morning so I finally put in my Jillian Michaels dvd. Mia sat on my tummy while I tried to do abs and tried to steal my weights, but at least I did something! I know you're mornings are already so early, but if you can't fit in a workout it might be worth it to get up a half hour earlier so that you can fit it in? It sucks at first, but you really will feel more energized throughout the day if you can keep up with it! Either way, good luck figuring out what will work with your schedule!

I love Jillian Michaels! She's my hero!
I may have to try the morning thing but I'm delaying it as long as possible.

  9. You know you have my support in this area. I love to workout! When the hubby was gone for two weeks, I got up at 4:30 and worked out before work. I loved it...but it's a lot harder to get out of bed when someone {besides the cat} is there with you. Stay strong and I know you can get those workouts in. :)

  10. I find such encouragement reading posts from parents who FIND TIME to workout. It's so easy to get caught up in the whole "I don't have time" excuse! I've learned to forgive myself for stopping & starting, on again, off again workout routines. That's just who I am right now. When I DO workout, I usually do it first thing in the morning or during a nap time for my youngest. As a parent, I always seem "crunched for time." Lol! Congrats to you about starting your vacation & completing your first workout.

Thanks for sharing with BlogDiggity! Be sure to post again on Sunday. =)

    1. I don't always 'find time' sometimes i have to 'make time' and then there are times when there is no time at all.

  11. If I know I have no time to work out I take 10 minutes and do 50 crunches, 20 pushups, 25 squats and 25 lunges. Then at least I feel good about doing something! Enjoy your vacation!
